VP Stress Testing, Analytics
Job Purpose & Scope Responsible for contributing to the overall quality of the Enterprise Stress Testing Program (‘ESTP’) and forward-looking analytics across the Bank. Assists management with all aspects of the Bank’s ESTP Program, including reviewing annual enhancements, documentation, and stakeholder education; preparing board quality meeting minutes evidencing all meeting events and outcomes; and setting meeting agendas. Documents processes, participates in management challenge sessions, and communicates modeled results, as well as the results of supporting Program Analyses. Assists management with maintaining an expected order of operations and controls necessary to support Program objectives to mitigate risks posed to achieving those objectives. Serves as liaison with senior and executive managers, model validators, internal and external auditors, and regulators to manage workflow, challenge and communicate results and support model validation efforts, as well as Program audits and examinations. Essential Job Functions Understands requirements of capital and CRE stress testing in sufficient depth to become a subject matter expert skilled in assisting with the management of certain components of the Program operations workflow and to assist with educating participants (‘stakeholders’) as to their roles and responsibilities within the annual Program cycle. Develops sufficient understanding of all stress testing models as to be able to implement and execute models in coordination with staff from Analytics and Modeling teams. Develops recurring analytics for all model inputs, outputs, market, and scenario data to provide stakeholders with actionable insights regarding drivers of stress testing results. Works with the appropriate data steward to ensure adherence to the Bank’s Data Governance Framework. Establishes rapport with stakeholders throughout the Bank and builds partnerships and the trust necessary to implement and maintain a successful Program. Develops and executes a calendar of events for each capital and CRE stress testing cycle, as established by management and the Managing Director, Analytics and Modeling. Works with management to establish meeting agendas for the Enterprise Stress Testing Advisory Council, as well as meetings that support components of the Program such as peer and/or panel bank analyses, portfolio credit loss modeling, allowance modeling, econometric modeling, interest rate and balance modeling, operational loss modeling, and pre-provision net revenue aggregation modeling, as examples. Leads and documents meetings with stakeholders to convey purpose, outline expectations, convey modeled results, discuss and challenge modeled results, communicate ‘take-aways’, and items requiring additional follow up. Drafts documents, exhibits, analyses, and flowcharts in support of the Program framework, governance, and executable processes. Creates and updates reports and presentations for management and the board of directors, including Program development status updates, related risk assessments and gap analyses, and the status of key Program cycle deliverables. Assists management with and manages processes regarding annual, real time model validation and auditing of the Program cycle, including managing processes around creating requests for proposal, making management introductions, conducting weekly status update meetings, issues identification and remediation, and report issuance. Works with Enterprise Risk Management on the development and ongoing management of a stress testing risk identification program focused on market, credit, and industry risks that are specific to the Bank. Designs an analytics-based process to review and evaluate model inputs and outputs to ensure appropriate data quality and application of the Bank’s model methodology. Assists with postmortems and lessons learned sessions with stakeholders and incorporates observations into future stress testing cycles. Collaborates with colleagues and managers across the enterprise to facilitate the exchange of risk and control information about the business units within their area of responsibility. Supports senior leaders, business unit managers, and Enterprise Risk Management with risk information, analyses, and reporting. Supports the development of new programs, including CECL, Credit Scorecards, and Portfolio Analytics. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge and experience using analytical software such as SAS, SQL, R, Python, Power BI and/or Tableau. Knowledge of modeling principles and processes, and data quality fundamentals and techniques. Knowledge of capital management, liquidity, financial reporting, and interest rate management modeling techniques. Knowledge of the origination, underwriting, and portfolio management process for consumer and commercial loan portfolios. Knowledge of banking and financial services. Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment and corporate governance principles. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including technical writing. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to document procedures for execution of structured queries and reporting code. Ability to participate in and manage complex projects requiring dedicated, focused efforts. Ability to prepare deliverables for management, committees, and senior leaders. Ability to operate and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with exacting deadlines and multiple projects. Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in analytics, business, accounting, finance, quantitative analysis, or related disciplines, or commensurate work experience, required. 5+ years of work experience in finance, credit, analytics, management information systems, or commercial lending, required.
