The Transformation Management Lead, is responsible for leading and managing transformation and strategic initiatives within Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Working with the Senior Vice President, Hospital Transformation, the Transformation Management Lead operationalizes transformation initiatives set by the Executive Leadership Team. The Transformation Management Lead, partners with operational and business leaders on developing strategies for the successful implementation of transformation initiatives.

 

Reporting to the Transformation Management Lead are the consulting, governance lead and change management functions. The Transformation Management Lead works to ensure these functions are designed and deployed to effectively support the Institute’s operations and business leaders in meeting large scale transformation efforts. Throughout the transformation initiative, the Transformation Management Lead works closely with the initiative’s executive sponsors to ensure overall alignment with the goals and objectives of the initiative.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Takes the Institute’s transformation and strategic initiatives and working with executive sponsors, clearly defines the initiatives scope, goals, objectives and deliverables.For transformation initiatives, establishes governance standards and structures with regular reviews to ensure ongoing alignment with the transformation initiative. Works closely with the Governance Lead on implementation and management of the governance model. Identifies value drivers and key performance metrics for measuring an initiative’s success.Provides status reports to executive sponsors on initiative progress. Works with SVP, Hospital Transformation to set transformation and strategic initiative priorities.

Operational:

Articulates the transformation initiative vision so as to garner engagement and commitment from operational leaders.Works with Governance Lead and operational leaders to develop an integrated delivery plan with timeline, dependencies and mitigation. Identifies and activates the appropriate resources across the functions of consulting, change management and transformation/project management to meet transformation plan needs.Confirms risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) and responsibility assignment matrix (RACI) as defined by the Governance Lead.Confirms change impact analysis and stakeholder analysis and management as defined by Change Management lead. Partners with the Change Management lead on strategies that help Institute leaders, faculty and staff through the transformation and sustains the change.

Performance Management:

Works with Change Lead and change agents to build engagement and excitement for the transformation initiative.Holds project teams accountable to defined deliverables and timelines. Addresses any gaps and/or conflict within the project teams that may impede the team’s ability to meet its deliverables.Rapidly identifies the root cause of a problem, potential interventions and takes necessary action to resolve the problem.

Team Leadership:

Defines and effectively communicates overall vision and direction for the Planning and Consulting team that aligns with transformation initiatives.Across the functions of change management, transformation management and consultant functions, ensure roles are properly defined with corresponding competencies. Regularly monitors team performance to ensure transformation initiatives stay on track. Adjusts where necessary. Recruits, engages and develops talent in the various team functions. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree (MPH, MHA, MBA) required.Minimum of 10 years experience leading transformation initiatives. Experience with consulting, planning, performance improvement and strategic planning. Preference to experience in the health care setting.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Extensive experience leading transformational initiatives in healthcare systems.Proven track record of successful relationship management, interpersonal skills, matrix management, executive and peer influence, getting work done through others, and motivating staff at all levels of the organization.Exceptional planning, scoping, facilitation, and organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive decision making in a complex environment.Strong listening, problem solving and communication skills. Promotes transparency.Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with all levels of the organization; Politically savvy and effective at influencing and collaborating with stakeholders, driving consensus decision-making, and building strong, collaborative relationships. Value and outcomes focused. Reliable. Able to meet deliverables on agreed upon timelines. Manages competing priorities and balances multiple agendas/demands. Strong people leader who builds relationships and garners engagement through an inspiring vision.Tolerance for ambiguity and is flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the organization.
