Job Overview
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Vice President to lead our Non-QM Underwriting team. The ideal candidate possesses expert-level knowledge of Non-QM lending guidelines, a proven track record of success in managing high-performing teams, and a strong commitment to quality and compliance. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Non-QM underwriting, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining exceptional loan quality.
A Typical Day
Key Responsibilities
+ Leadership & Strategy:
+ Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Non-QM underwriting team.
+ Develop, implement, and refine underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
+ Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and improvement within the Non-QM lending space.
+ Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
+ Underwriting Operations:
+ Oversee the daily operations of the Non-QM underwriting team, ensuring timely and accurate loan decisions.
+ Manage workflow and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and productivity.
+ Review and analyze complex loan applications, including income documentation, asset verification, and credit reports.
+ Render sound underwriting decisions based on established guidelines and risk tolerance.
+ Maintain a strong understanding of all applicable federal and state regulations.
+ Risk Management & Compliance:
+ Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize losses and ensure loan quality.
+ Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.
+ Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
+ Stay abreast of industry changes and regulatory updates.
+ Team Development:
+ Recruit, hire, and train new underwriting staff.
+ Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members.
+ Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
What You’ll Bring
+ Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role focused on Non-QM products.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of Non-QM underwriting guidelines, including investor requirements and regulatory standards.
+ Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
+ DE/SAR designation preferred.

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:
+ Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
+ Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
+ Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
Salary
$75,000 - $130,000
