WAN Network Architect
Location: Basingstoke or Bracknell

As a Network Architect, you will contribute to this by working collaboratively in the project team, designing, and delivering medium to large network solutions to enhance services for our customer that meet their operational needs.
We are looking for a WAN Network Architect to work on delivery opportunities taking place within the secure Defence and National Security sector. The role will involve collaboratively providing network solutions and services, both within and access multiple technical towers (i.e. Networks, Infrastructure, Security etc.) that meet the network requirements on secure DNS projects.
You will ensure that the network requirements within projects are adhered to; you will own and/or contribute to solution document deliverables, ensuring that these are produced to a high-quality standard, including appropriate governance (this includes high and low level designs, BoMs, Operational Maintenance Guides); you will carry out any prototyping or POC as required; you will provide technical leadership, design input and guidance for your area of expertise to projects and other teams as requested; you will support the project management function in terms of planning and estimating, and reporting.
Your transferable skills and experience:
Your experience
• Experience and understanding of working on secure projects (holding relevant security clearance) within Defence and Government environments.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of cross tower architectures (Networks, Infrastructure, Security, Service Management) that includes a full breadth of solution design and associated services from multiple vendors (i.e. Juniper, Cisco, Fortinet, VMWare, ServiceNow, NetApp etc.).
• Strong technical networking knowledge with industry recognized network certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIS-ENT. WAN routing, which must include MPLS, BGP, ISIS. Ideally the candidate has a good working knowledge of Juniper products and JUNOS operating system, in particular SRX and MX appliances. But a good knowledge of Cisco equivalent will be considered. Understanding of encryption overlays such as IPSec, GRE and hardware encryption would be beneficial. Good working knowledge of all LAN Switching technologies with experience of the Juniper EX switch platform and JUNOS operating system. There must also be a basic level of understanding for the Cisco Switch platform and Cisco IOS.
• Demonstrable network device configuration skills, troubleshooting skills and approach to defect resolution.
• Solid understanding of project end to end life cycle, from pre-sales ore bid stages through initial requirements gathering (RCTM) to design/delivery to Operational Acceptance into Service (AiS), including good commercial and financial awareness in terms of understanding risks and dependencies associate with any delivery project.
• Appreciation how design decisions may impact ability to provide an ongoing Managed Service. Understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Excellent communications skills with multiple stakeholders, able to take ownership and responsibility and make quick decisions. Ability to communicate calmly and concisely with the Customer.
•Analytical, flexible and adaptable in a fast-changing environment.
