Summary 

The Warehouse Associate I is an entry level position.  The Warehouse Associate I should be familiar with all areas of the fork truck driving procedures for safely loading and unloading trucks to maintain efficient, safe operations. The Warehouse Associate I is responsible for all order picking, order verification and loading of customer or carriers' vehicles in a safe manner. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities.  

Essential Duties

Practices incident and accident prevention, demonstrating safe behavior in all activitiesObtains and maintains fork-truck certification by attending in-house training, and completes daily fork truck check sheetsAbility to learn to troubleshoot work related issues and communicates issues with maintenance, and Shipping LeadWorks safely, and is responsible for housekeeping in his/her work areas at all timesPrioritizes work assignments by meeting with Shipping Lead every morning and throughout the dayDrives the fork truck safely through the warehouse mindful of pedestrian traffic at all timesAbility to learn the cycle counting events and participates when needed, able to adjust schedule to meet inventory deadlinesShips according to FIFO principles on all items in the warehouse to ensure shelf-life efficacyPrepares product for shipping by reviewing the packing slip, hand picking the product and assembling the palletArranges pallets on flatbeds according to weight restrictions and driver input when loadingEnsures correct product delivery by reviewing packing slip and product on truck     Stretch wraps accessory pallets by placing pallets on turntable, adjusting height and tensionVerifies product quantity for shipment and receiving by counting and signing Picking Slip and Bill of LadingLearns safety hazards and job procedures by reading and understanding job safety analysis (JSA)Learns software programs by reading and understanding manuals and proceduresSuggests improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating to Logistics ManagerWorks safely when loading and unloading van trailers; uses dock locks and chocks to hold trailer steady when going in and outLearns hazardous material safety for spills and transporting material; earns HAZMAT certification and keeps currentObtains and maintains forklift certification by attending in house trainingPerforms other duties as instructed by the Logistics ManagerDaily review of email and department communication; maintains a good attendance recordMaintains a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contactsUses process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processesTrained to follow and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines for all shipmentsObserve what needs to be done and take initiative to perform this work
