About the role The Warehouse Manager at Northbrook, a Leviton Company, manages the inbound and outbound movement of goods and materials to provide high quality customer service at targeted cost levels. This individual manages the Distribution warehouse operations, directs the negotiation and optimization of freight cost and terms consistent with customer service requirements and instills a culture of continuous improvement. They ensure effective communications and coordination with customer service, sales, purchasing and scheduling/production departments. The position reports to the Senior Operations Director. Responsibilities Operate the finished goods and component inventories to optimize flow of goods into and out of the warehouses Provide patterning and location management Maintain inventory accuracy, stock rotation plans, and direct cycle counting Work with product planning to provide a 3-6 month rolling capacity plan, which includes consideration of plant storage capacity, manpower needs, and supply chain flow and costs Research and identify the best material handling technology for our needs and plan its acquisition Recommend capital investments with an ROI that meets Company standards Work directly with customers as required, to ensure the company meets it commitments for on-time shipping Plan and provide for skill-ready personnel for all departments within a single or multi shift capacity plan Ensure that people understand the department standards, expectations and procedures, their roles in the various teams and the customer service requirements of the company Provide annual assessment and performance feedback to all employees Ensure compliance with company human resources policies Provide safety and skill training to all personnel consistent with their roles in the organization Provide a safe work environment equal to or better than industry standards for all departments Investigate accidents and take corrective action as required to minimize the risk of future accidents Ensure constructive feedback from employees and participation in continuous improvement activities Manage external distribution warehouses, including stocking levels and inventory accuracy Manage finished goods inventory turns Manage inventory accuracy Qualifications Education and Experience BS in Business or related field prefered Five or more years of experience managing warehouse operations, specifically managing flow in a facility with 15-25 docks, with 5000 or more SKU's and high turnover of goods and components Three or more years of experience selecting, negotiating and managing freight carriers and carrier performance Must have worked in a computerized warehouse environment Skills & Abilities Ability to work under pressure Excellent inter-departmental communicator Good oral/written communication skills Ability to get along with diverse personalities, good reasoning abilities and sound judgement Should be a self-starter with good organizational skills and be flexible Politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with complex problems Motivational, listening, and problem-solving skills Determine the most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation for outbound shipments, inbound receipts and shipments to and from remote warehouses Work with purchasing to determine cost effective freight terms for inbound receipts Select carriers for both inbound and outbound traffic Develop routing guidelines Track and manage carrier performance Manage freight quotation for inbound and outbound transportation, including ground, air and ocean freight Negotiate with transportation companies to create the best value for the company Establish and evaluate methods for loading/unloading, warehousing and packaging to provide cost savings and delivery efficiencies Manage freight billing audit/review and freight claim recoveries It is impossible to list every requirement for, or responsibility of, any position Leviton is an AA/EEO Employer.
