What you will be doing

We have an opening for a Warehouse Operations Superintendent. 

The position will be based in Anchorage, Alaska.

Main responsibilities

Design, monitor, and maintain a safe working environment through compliance of safety programs. Foster a positive work atmosphere and create a culture of motivated and productive employees. Lead, coach, and supervise warehouse personnel to attain department KPI’s. Manage daily warehouse operations to service the needs of retail stores within department budget. Proven ability to communicate effectively with employees and to hold them accountable. Keep informed of Federal, State, Municipal, regulations, and company / CBA work rules regarding operations. Work closely with Warehouse Supervisors, hourly associates, dispatch, drivers, Division DC’s, and retail personnel. Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operational needs. Maintain a high level of customer service. Hiring and development of warehouse staff and team members towards attainment of their potential. Assist with capital projects & quarterly budgeting. Coordination of transportation operations within DC. Fostering supportive and communicative relationship with Retail Partners and the Distribution Center. Responsible for profit and loss of warehouse & transportation department. Stay current with all DOT & OSHA regulations in regard to warehouse & transportation operations. Ensure all employees and equipment are in regulatory compliance.

What we are searching for 

Previous union experience preferred. 4-year college degree in logistics or business preferred. 4+ years supervision experience in a warehouse / transportation environment. Knowledge of transportation related software including routing optimization software (Manugistics JDA); truck on-board computer software (XATA); dispatch software (Prospero). Knowledge and experience operating within the guidelines of DOT, OSHA, Health Department, and other regulatory agencies. Proven track record of cost reductions and increased productivity. Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (EXE, COM, and Engineered Labor Standards). Able to work with warehouse supervisors to improve supervisory & teamwork skills. Well-developed analytical and computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Ability to empower, supervise and direct a diverse workforce.  Ability to hire, develop, evaluate, train, & coach staff and associates. Strong communication skills and ability to build direct relationships with hourly associates. Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility. Experience in holding employees accountable for working safely and providing a safe work environment. Proven ability to do financial analysis, review, and analyze existing cost data. Strong interpersonal and team building skills. Excellent customer service focus results oriented. Must be comfortable giving and receiving open feedback. Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays required.
