Warehouse Supervisor
Business Unit Overview 8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm. Responsibilities Position Summary: The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the daily activity of the shipping department. They coordinate and direct shift warehouse operations and personnel to ensure that quality work is performed in a safe, productive and efficient manner. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for scheduling daily and weekly assignments for front line warehouse team; leverages and administers collective bargaining agreement to maximize output while minimizing labor costs Responsible for supervising and training warehouse personnel on safe and efficient forklift operations Proactively monitors and measures warehouse department throughput and quality metrics daily; responsible for coaching, counseling, and managing employees via timely feedback and development Verify accuracy of all inbound items received Maintain and update process holds in QAD application Maintain communication with the department Managers and production department leads on warehouse needs and shipping priorities Assists Warehouse Manager in developing department operating budget Assists in improving inventory integrity, troubleshoot areas of concern and adjust by cycle counting Serve as the on-site safety representative during emergency situations and when manager is offsite. Responsible for investigating and reporting safety incidents and identifying corrective actions to address safety findings Partners with Health & Safety function to advance warehouse department safety programs and improve employee safety in the workplace by using lean manufacturing processes to drive continuous process improvements in quality, productivity, sanitation, and safety to ensure all programs are followed Responsible for supporting and maintaining Food Safety and Quality Programs, along with proactively identifying and executing all continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation. Participates and supports all Quality and Safety audits and annual certifications, including internal audits and paperwork compliance Other duties, as assigned Education and Experience Required: HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution 1+ years leadership or supervisory experience 3+ years manufacturing experience Previous experience operating a forklift and successful completion of a forklift training program Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and extra hours, as needed Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: 3+ years supervisory experience Associate’s degree in maintenance, manufacturing, or related technical field Previous experience with implementing behavior-based safety programs Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills Strategic planning skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Physical Requirements: Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to bend and crawl for 4+ hours per shift Much be able to crouch, kneel and stoop for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to climb ladders for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to sit, stand and walk for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, perform fine manipulation, and feel for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to operate foot pedals for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express and exchange written or spoken word, and distinguish objects and equipment visually
