The Job You Will Perform:
Responsible for safely and efficiently utilizing the full potential of the resources in assigned areas to maximize the performance of the Newport Mill in providing quality, timely, and cost-effective services and products to our internal and external customers. Responsible for transportation, warehousing, loading and shipping all manufactured products, and ensuring efficient scheduling and loading of customer shipments. Ensure adherence to high ethical standards, mutual respect, and integrity.
Key Accountabilities:
Supervise the hourly material handler, material handler specialist, and spotter driver workforce, setting expectations and holding individuals accountable for results. Develop sound employee relations atmosphere aimed at positive work attitudes and high employee engagement. Act to ensure an environment free from harassment. Champion Manufacturing Excellence Principles of 5S in the warehouse. Ensure safety of shipping employees by application of all safety rules, practices, and systems and adherence to high ethical standards. Achieve objectives of the Newport Mill through goal planning, direction setting, work execution and review of daily operations, environmental issues and government compliance. Maintain inventory levels of departmental supplies including dunnage. Initiate work requests in the SAP system as needed. Investigate and respond to customer issues/claims for damage and errors for transportation. Prepare work schedules and assign work as needed. Communicate company policies and procedures. Lead and manage material handlers utilizing appropriate and effective performance management systems and techniques. Maintain accurate inventory counts following company guidelines and daily up to date inventory figures. Work closely with the Corporate Center for Transportation and Supply Chain to utilize obsolete inventory on the floor. Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands/ Working Environment:
Individual must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
Physically challenging mill environment: ability to move, ascend/descend stairs minimum 50% of the time Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time Heat in excess of 100ºF, occasionally Working environment is 24/7 – ability to be on-call as needed and/or required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma with equivalent experience. Five years related experience. Experience supervising people.
