What Inventory Management contributes to Cardinal Health
Inventory Management is accountable for the design and execution of demand planning and customer forecasting systems, supply planning, product deployment and expediting processes, and the development and implementation of a stocking optimization model to minimize costs and inventory while delivering on service requirements.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred. 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role, or related experience preferred.Prior experience with continuous improvement projects and initiatives.Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.Exceptional leadership abilities, particularly in effectively guiding and managing change initiatives.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.Experience working within ERP’s, SAP/ECC, AIMS preferred.Responsibilities
Directs and manages inventory team (1 lead associate and 6 warehouse associates) to ensure timely distribution and receipt of products, motivating employees to meet productivity and quality standards, including cycle times, lines per hour, shortages, damaged units, missed dispatches, and missed scans.Monitors site productivity standards and holds associates accountable to daily, weekly, and monthly metrics; provides timely feedback and initiates corrective action processes when needed.Optimizes picking and replenishment by profiling products to determine the best slotting based on weights and measures, pallet dimensions, frequency of product movement, expiration date, hazardous classifications, and other characteristics. Facilitates efficient purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery to Cardinal Health 3PLs.Monitors quality and productivity metrics, including damaged products, adjustments, shortages, and cycle counts. Communicates regularly with the Supervisor and other internal departments on inventory accuracy and quality metrics related to specific products or customers. Coordinates with outside vendors to secure supplies for operational needs.Investigates outbound discrepancies by checking for differences between physical counts and WMS records. Identifies and reports variances to the Customer Care team, ensuring prompt shipment of variances to customers and documenting all variances and issues in line with SOPs.Resolves inbound discrepancies by initiating communication with external suppliers and coordinating with Quality Assurance teams. Makes necessary adjustments in WMS and determines implications for customer order fulfillment.Determines proper resolution of discrepancies and other operational errors to ensure customer commitments are fulfilled within the scheduled timeframe. Communicates the root cause and resolution to the Supervisor, Manager, and other internal stakeholders promptly to minimize future errors.Places Purchase Orders (POs) for customers and tracks to ensure on-time deliveries, preventing service disruptions.Identifies opportunities to improve operations and mitigate risks in inventory control and broader operations. Provides input into operational excellence initiatives through the Manager.Serves as a resource to other team members, instructs Associates on complex picking, put-away, and replenishment tasks to maximize inventory accuracy, and supports daily operational needs. Assists in occasional warehouse audits by providing reporting and answering questions related to inventory control procedures as necessary.Adhere to site safety regulations including wearing required personal protective equipment such as steel toed safety shoes, and material handling equipment safety harness; accountable to Cardinal Health’s EHS as well as QRA policies and procedures.
