Job Summary
Directs and coordinates activities concerned with the preparation, documentation and routing of inbound / outbound freight.
Core Responsibilities
Places safety first. Follows all procedures and policies. Self corrects issues and or reports to management immediately when required.
Understands and follows all company policies, procedures and objectives.
Prepares outbound shipments; prepares items for shipment to customers and/or return to suppliers.
Prepares shipments for vendors or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping methods.
Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against sale orders to ensure that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
Schedules pickups of returns from distribution centers and hospitals.
Resolves shipping problems by researching shipping history on courier’s websites.
As required verifies shipments against sale orders and examines before they are shipped.
Maintains recordkeeping systems per established standards.
Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.
Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
Directs preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement.
Aids with cycle counts and physical inventories.
Performs DTM II duties as business needs dictate.
Performs additional duties as directed.
Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
Qualifying Experience
Effective communication skills, verbal and written
Works using SAP to enter and validate various inventory control transactions
Uses Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point for data analysis and communication aid.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Problem solving
Equipment, Tools and Work Aids
Material handling equipment (to include items such as: hand truck, forklift/reach trucks, cherry pickers), stretch wrap machines, safety knives, safety harnesses.
