Job Description:
The leader of Washington National Tax – International will provide multi-faceted leadership and build a high-performing team, supporting the execution of Crowe's strategic priorities and the growth of our Tax Business Unit. The leader will be a representative of Crowe in the International Tax community through involvement with industry groups, including the tax sections of the ABA and AICPA. The leader will facilitate the development of a consultative practice by creating thought leadership and quantitative analysis tools for international taxation to ensure compliance, optimize tax planning strategies, assess risks, minimize compliance costs, and provide support in tax disputes. The candidate should expect to be a champion of making informed decisions based on data-driven insights, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of international tax management.
A successful candidate will be prepared to assist the current leadership in expanding revenue by working with practice offices on existing clients and external opportunities coming through our business development team and possess the following skills:
Strong experience with quantitative analysis tools utilized for:
Tax Calculation: They can calculate tax liabilities based on various tax rules, rates, and jurisdictions. This includes analyzing the impact of different tax planning strategies, such as transfer pricing arrangements or cross-border financing structures
Transfer Pricing Analysis: They can perform transfer pricing analyses by comparing financial data, identifying comparable transactions, and determining arm's length prices. These tools help assess the potential risks of transfer pricing adjustments and support the development of defensible transfer pricing policies
Tax Treaty Analysis: They can analyze tax treaties between different countries to determine the applicable tax provisions, such as withholding tax rates, permanent establishment thresholds, and treaty benefits. This helps in optimizing tax positions and minimizing double taxation
Scenario Analysis: They can run scenario analyses to evaluate the tax implications of different business structures, transactions, or investment decisions. This allows tax professionals to assess the potential tax consequences and risks associated with various options
Compliance Optimization: They can assist in optimizing compliance costs by automating calculations, generating tax forms, and streamlining reporting processes. These tools help ensure accurate and efficient compliance with international tax regulations
Ability to identify value-added opportunities and work in a team environment to develop business
Proven leadership and project management skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.
Experience with developing the appropriate scope, pricing, and project team relative to deployment of the quantitative analytics tools noted above
Ability to proactively manage revenue and budget expectations set both internally by the existing management team and externally by clients
Ability to mentor and develop the team including on the job technical training and coaching
Exceptional client service and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA License or JD required
15+ years public accounting, law firm and or related government experience
Pass-thru entity and Partnership tax expertise
Ability to plan client engagements, provide tax consulting services, manage compliance projects, supervise and review work of team staff members, work closely with clients as well as internal managers and partners
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information and tax law
Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
