The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing. **Role Description:** The Lead Communications Technician will act as the on-site coordinator and supervision for voice and data installation projects. The Lead Comm Tech’s task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project. Dispatch, track, and maintain communications gear and electronics such as UHF, VHF, and HF radios, digital voice recorders, communications switches, touch screen displays, airfield communications systems, for AAR WASS. **Key Responsibilities:** + Dispatch and/or install portable base station, mobile communication systems, and associated antennas. + Maintain local repeater communication systems and troubleshoot transmission and receiving issues. + Test, align, and adjust local equipment, replace and repair faulty components. + Collaborate with stakeholders to assess communication needs and recommendation appropriate solutions. + Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. + Maintain equipment disposition and maintenance records, spare parts, supply stock, tools, and technical manuals. + Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies, procedures and applicable laws. + Provide technical guidance to subordinate personnel. + Requisition materials and parts for communications equipment. + Develop, revise, and update internal standard operating procedure documents. + Read and interpret information contained in operational plans, technical orders, maintenance directives, OEM recommendations, and other technical data pertaining to ground based communication systems and components. + Work at heights of 50 – 100 ft towers to repair, install, secure, and replace antennas and cables as required. + Perform 24-hour on call duties on a rotating basis. + Performs other duties as assigned. \#LI#LI-HD11#LI-HD1 Qualifications: **Basic Qualifications** **:** Required + High School diploma or GED equivalent. + Military or civilian communications certificate or degree. + Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience + Utilize emotional intelligence to build and enhance interactions with direct reports and employees overall. + Ability to guide and develop team members + Minimum of five (5) years of experience related to the requirements and qualifications necessary to manage and perform the tasks outlined in the responsibilities to include experience in tactical VHF-UHF communication platforms. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively, clearly and succinctly through spoken and written forms with peers, management, and customers. Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels. + Must speak and understand English to coordinate movement on ramp via two-way radios. + Knowledgeable in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing airfield lighting, communications, and navigational equipment. + Ability to translate communication into meaningful solutions for both hardware and software. + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint. + Experience in procedures for handling, storing, and issuing COMSEC keying material, encryption devices, and Controlled Cryptographic Items. + Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. security clearance. **Preferred:** + Active U.S. security clearance + Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. + Certification from civilian communications schools, such as apprentice, journeyman, or senior-level CET certifications, Motorola or Harris subscriber academy schools, or military technical school/advanced individual training equivalents. + Current or prior experience working for Motorola MSS shops, radio depot repair centers, or in any other RF field technician capacity. + Prior experience with Motorola XTS 5000 radios, Harris AN/PRC 152 radios, Motorola APX series radios, Quantar and GTR series repeaters, and the software to program these devices. + Experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Air Traffic and Control (ATC) voice communications systems, interface equipment, recording servers and peripheral devices. + Current tower climbing certification. + Prior OCONUS government contracting experience. **Compensation and Benefits:** + Salaried Position. + 90/30 Rotation schedule, work schedule 72 hours weekly. + Competitive salary and bonus package. + Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage. + 401(k) retirement plan with company match. + Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
