Overview
**This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP**
The Waste Management Manager oversees and coordinates all activities of a Non-Hazardous Waste Management Operation which includes incinerator operation, waste collection, and ash collection, testing, and disposal. The manager oversees incinerator plant workers engaged in operation, maintenance, and repair of incinerator furnaces and auxiliary equipment, and waste collection and sorting operations at a seven day a week facility. The manager serves as the Subject Matter Expert in matters under his/her responsibility. #LI-TM1
Responsibilities
This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
+ Directs activities of workers engaged in tasks such as refuse collection, weighing and unloading refuse trucks, sorting rubbish to remove unburnable items, moving rubbish to furnace hoppers, operating incinerator furnaces, repairing furnace refractory linings, and removing ashes.
+ Assists workers in repairing facilities and equipment, applying knowledge of principles of combustion and safety procedures, and using hand tools.
+ Maintains personnel records of assigned employees.
+ Trains workers in performance of duties and safety procedures.
+ Inspects incinerator furnace and other equipment to detect need for maintenance and repair.
+ Monitors and tracks preventive and corrective maintenance work orders from initiation to completion.
+ Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
+ Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Preferred Qualifications:
+ Undergraduate degree preferred.
+ Experience:
+ Ten (10) years related experience in either Municipal Waste Management working at a Municipal Solid Waste facility that includes Incinerators.
+ Additional Skill Requirements:
+ Strong organization, communication (verbal/written) skills, and attention to detail.
+ Requires extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
+ Prior LOGCAP experience at a Lead or Supervisor level in Non-Hazardous Solid Waste Management (Incineration Operations) preferred.
+ Supervisory Responsibilities:
+ Supervises operations of Waste Management employees and activities.
+ Working Conditions:
+ Must be capable of working in tropical weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with varying conditions.
+ Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
+ Physical Requirements:
+ Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
+ Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
+ Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
+ Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
