Overview This position is physically located in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba The Waste Management Specialist conducts all activities of a Non-Hazardous Waste Management Operation which includes incinerator operation, waste collection, and ash collection, testing, and disposal and all waste collection and sorting operations at a seven day a week facility. #LI-TM1 Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Refuse collection, weighing and unloading refuse trucks, sorting rubbish to remove unburnable items, moving rubbish to furnace hoppers, operating incinerator furnaces, repairing furnace refractory linings, and removing ashes. + Assists workers in repairing facilities and equipment, applying knowledge of principles of combustion and safety procedures, and using hand tools. + Inspects incinerator furnace and other equipment to detect need for maintenance and repair + Performs other duties as described Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. + Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) + Must be a U.S. Citizen + High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: + One (1) years related experience in either Municipal Waste Management working at a Municipal Solid Waste facility that includes Incinerators. + Additional Skill Requirements: + Strong organization, communication (verbal/written) skills, and attention to detail. + Requires extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel). Working Conditions: + The worker will be billeted in camp conditions. Sleeping quarters will be in shared tent as well as latrine and dining facilities. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind, rain, and humidity. + Must be capable of working in tropical weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with varying conditions. + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: + Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. + Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
