Waste Services Manager
Overview This position is physically located in Iraq The Waste Services Manager is responsible for managing, directing, and supervising all wastewater treatment plants and sanitation facilities including daily process control, solids handling, waste collection, and the disposal of non-hazardous waste at multiple locations within Iraq. Area of responsibility includes ensuring regulatory compliance involving non-hazardous waste disposal, air emissions, fats oils and grease (F.O.G), wastewater effluent and consumer satisfaction through improved solid waste and wastewater quality while optimizing existing collection, handling and treatment processes, and development of future treatment options. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + This position manages all activities related to solid waste and wastewater quality regulatory compliance. + Examines raw sewage quality, effluent quality and investigates proposed changes in the activated sludge process to improve the quality of the wastewater being discharged from treatment plants + Sets operational criteria for both near-term operations and long-term planning to ensure regulatory compliance. + Provides process design criteria when a facility is in the planning stages to ensure wastewater effluent quality goals are achieved + Create and input plans in place to provide a reliable and efficient service for the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste. + Develops innovative ways to optimize processes (combined with operational reality) with the goal of even greater reliability and cost effectiveness in operations. + Performs Other Duties as assigned. Qualifications + Minimum Qualifications : Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required. Use the guide below to determine education and experience for this position. + High School Graduate or equivalent required. + Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent field experience is strongly preferred. + Licenses/Certifications: + Shall possess a minimum of a Class B wastewater treatment plant operator (Level 3) certification or equivalent. + Experience: + Ten (10) years related experience in wastewater treatment operations with a minimum of seven years’ experience in municipal activated sludge processing and operation of solid waste handling and incineration units, treatment operation repair in an overseas location. + Work experience on Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) is required. + Must have knowledge of principles and processes involved in repairing, maintaining, installing, and modernizing wastewater treatment for buildings and grounds at an overseas facility. + Must have familiarization with US government environmental regulatory guidelines. + Minimum five years supervisory experience in the management of personnel. + Experience with municipal Wastewater Treatment, Solid Waste, and Incineration systems is required. + Previous experience in a contingency environment is a plus. + Supervisory Responsibilities: + Manages a team of Wastewater Treatment and Solid Waste professionals at multiple locations. + Skills: + Excellent computer, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills required. + Requires excellent organizational skills; with the ability to work under fast paced and adverse conditions. + Working Conditions: + Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. + Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. + Physical Requirements: + Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. + Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
