Job Overview This is a skilled position responsible for all aspects of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System operation & maintenance. Incumbent will work under the supervision of the Water and Wastewater Lead Operator. Operators are responsible for testing the water at various stages of treatment; interpreting and adjusting meters and gauges; and performing chemical and biological laboratory analyses. Come work with an excellent team. This job has a competitive wage of $41.19 per hr with opportunity to advance. Benefits include: $7.00 per hour for Health and Welfare, $5.32 per hour Pension contribution (both capped at 40 hours per week), 11 paid holidays, and PTO starting at 10 hours per month. After 90 days there is a contract year clothing allowance of $380.00 for protective clothing and/or ANSI compliant safety shoes. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Operate and control electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of raw wastewater into the .85 MGD Sequential Batch Reactor Wastewater Treatment plant. Responsible for the on-site operation and preventative maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewage Collection system. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter readings and test results to determine proper treatment plant operations. Responsible for maintaining a log of wastewater treatment plant routine operations and maintenance. Learns and adheres to all effluent quality regulations. Ensures the wastewater plant process is running smoothly on shift. Updates operating records. Performs accurate lab analysis. Submits reports pertaining to compliance of the wastewater plant. Performs daily operational and fluid checks on vehicles before, during, and after operation of the equipment, and keeps equipment in good working condition. Keeps the Lead Operator apprised of work situations and problems encountered. Adheres to Company safety policies, procedures and programs. Determines parts, supplies and material requirements for job accomplishment, and inventories/orders supplies to replenish bench stocks. · Adheres to and accomplishes the preventative maintenance plan. Learns collection systems pipe and manhole locations in order to quickly respond to emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED). Group I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification as issued by the State of WA Department of Ecology. Ability to pass and maintain the respirator fit test with a tightfitting respirator as work will be performed around chlorine gas. Communicate, both orally and in writing, in the English language. Ability to successfully pass a background check, drug test, and physical as required. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
