JOB SUMMARY\n

The Wastewater Plant Operator performs duties in the operations, maintenance and repairs necessary at the wastewater treatment plant.\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n

Minimum three years of experience in operation and maintenance of municipal wastewater treatment plant.\n

Special Requirements:\n

Must possess a valid Texas Class \"B\" commercial driver's license within three months of hire. Current class \"C\" Wastewater Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Ability to lift weights of 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance. On call 24\/7 every set period of time. \n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of and ability to drive heavy construction equipment.\nKnowledge of computer software and programs.\nKnowledge of operations, maintenance and repair of wastewater pumps and control system.\nKnowledge of City of Conroe's policies and procedures.\nKnowledge of safe working conditions and procedures.\nSkill in communicating well with supervisors, subordinates and public.\nSkill in good communication. \nSkill in using attitude, tact and courtesy necessary to deal with internal and external customers.\nAbility to operate various types of hand and precision tools.\nAbility to climb in and out of confined areas.\nAbility to lift weights of 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance.\nAbility to stand, stoop, kneel or sit for long periods of time.\nAbility to utilize independent judgment and decision-making abilities as necessary.\nAbility to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment and with minimal supervision.\nAbility to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.\nAbility to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.\nAbility to understand and follow written and oral instructions.\nAbility to obtain licenses\/certifications to perform work assignments.\nAbility to respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.\nAbility to understand and follow City of Conroe and departmental policies and procedures.\nAbility to maintain accurate records and reports to remain in compliance with the discharge permit.\nAbility to work outside in various conditions and terrain.\n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is medium and requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and\/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.\n
