Responsibilities You will perform regular scheduled equipment checks and operate the industrial wastewater collection pumping stations. You will routinely remove settable solids, floating debris, and oil. You will receive, handle, and store chemicals utilized in the various treatment processes. You will perform preventative maintenance on the industrial drives, pumps, motors, control, and instrumentation that is associated with the individual treatment process. You will perform batch treatments on various industrial waste solutions, such as acids, bases, solutions with high concentrations of cyanide, chromium, and phenols. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Illustrates having knowledge, skills and ability in wastewater treatment plant operations. 2) Ability to work and perform duties and tasks in monitoring and maintaining ancillary wastewater treatment systems and components. 3) Ability to perform common tasks including collecting samples and adjusting chemical additions according to specified requirements. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
