Position Summary
The Wastewater Facility Labourer is responsible for the receiving, processing and discharging of non-hazardous wastewater and waste materials received by the Processing Facilities. The successful candidate must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.
With this position you will have the opportunity to earn your BC EOCP (Environmental Operators Certificate Program) Wastewater Treatment 1 certification.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure liquid waste is received, treated and processed in a safe and efficient manner
Monitor tank levels, flow rates and dewatering equipment
Assist operators with basic pump, pipe and valve repairs and maintenance
Safe handling and of chemicals and effluent discharging
Operation of processing machinery and equipment as required
Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times
Complete facility paperwork properly & ensure it is submitted
Complete job hazard risk assessments
Promote a safety culture with all employees
Ensure superior customer service is provided
General shop clean up and maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks
Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on cement for extended periods of time
Excellent communication skills
Planning and organizational skills
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Able to work independently and in a team environment
