Parks and Recreation is recruiting to fill Water Aerobics Instructor positions to assist in the development and delivery of safe and effective opportunities for physical fitness. All details should be entered on the application. **$18.00/class non-certified and $22.00/class certified Essential Functions + Plan, organize, evaluate, and lead classes/lessons within specified program. + Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations on sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment; instruct participants with varied fitness and skill levels; perform emergency first aid. + Inspect and set up sports and fitness equipment; observe all participants to ensure safety. + Demonstrate and/or explain how to perform various exercises, routines, and techniques to minimize injuries and improve fitness and performance. + Monitor participants techniques and progress to ensure proper form and adapt program as needed. + Provide options during class/lesson to help participants feel successful. + Maintain and organize various paperwork, schedules, and other required resources. + Promote positive sportsmanship and stewardship towards all recreation facilities (indoor and outdoor) for participants and spectators. + Perform other duties, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities + Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques used in recreational sports and fitness activities. + Knowledge of rules and strategies of specified program with the ability to interpret and apply City adapted rules and regulations. + Skill in promoting positive and safe environments. + Skill in communicating, in person and writing, with the proven ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with diverse individuals. + Ability to effectively break instructions down to specific skills and techniques with patience and tact. + Ability to lead and work with both adults and youth of all ages. + Ability to effectively meet and communicate with the public and deescalate stressful situations. + Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information. + Ability to maintain and foster a culture of professionalism, adhere to departmental and City standards and specifications, and support a positive team environment. + Ability to accept criticism and resolve conflicts with facilitating outcomes while maintaining a calm demeanor. + Ability to learn departmental and City of Missoula practices and procedures.
