Job Description
Inspect water asset valves, hydrants, meters, and water meter boxes for leakage. Use acoustic sensors and headphones to listen for leaks and notify the Project Manager of potential issues. This role involves traveling from the project manager's location to the job site or meeting directly at the job site. You will work outside, dealing with the elements and heat, and use phone apps to map out necessary information.
ResponsibilitiesConduct non-revenue water recovery and control services, including leak detection using acoustic noise loggers, water network establishment, asset identification, step tests, and flow and pressure data recovery.Complete job forms, timesheets, and all other required documentation.Ensure safe working methods are applied at all times and participate in weekly safety meetings.Read, interpret, and measure Map/GIS information.Facilitate all Leak Detection work requirements, including advising on night work as needed.Use initiative to find solutions in the field for the benefit of the customer and the Water Asset Management division.Attend or conduct site meetings with the client as needed.Maintain all equipment related to specific projects and produce a quarterly stock check.Essential SkillsExperience with GIS, water treatment, and water utility systems.Proficiency in leak detection, meter reading software, troubleshooting, safety procedures, documentation, mapping software, and ArcGIS.Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day with frequent bending and lift up to 20 lbs.Experience working outside in extreme conditions.Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal instruction.Willingness to consent to a drug screen.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, GIS, Biology, Geology, or a related field is preferred.High School diploma or GED required if no bachelor's degree, with at least one to two years of experience in a physically demanding job.Experience in Map/GIS information reading, interpreting, and measuring preferred.Experience with Water Distribution Systems and/or Acoustic Leak Detection is desirable but not required.Work Environment
This role does not have a set office in Illinois, so the individual will be assigned to the closest office in Minneapolis. The candidate will report to job sites daily and work 8-hour days, with the option of 5 8-hour days or 4 10-hour days, ensuring a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position involves significant travel, with the candidate being away for an average of two weeks at a time, traveling to various locations such as Florida, Michigan, Texas, etc. A company vehicle and phone will be provided, so a valid driver's license and smartphone proficiency are required. The work environment involves outdoor work, dealing with different weather conditions, and potential long-term opportunities to move into a more GIS-heavy position or a Project Manager role.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
