Water Engineering Leader

We are looking for an experienced **Water Engineering Leader** to join us and play a pivotal role in leading and growing our water business. This position can be based out of our **Boston, Washington DC or New York** offices. The ideal candidate should be a licensed engineer with extensive experience in multi-disciplinary projects serving as a project manager. The role involves technical design, consulting, client engagement, business development, and team leadership. **The Opportunity** + **Project Leadership & Delivery:** + Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and other specialists on a variety of water projects, from feasibility studies and design to construction supervision and commissioning. + Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, meeting client expectations and Arup's design philosophy. + **Technical Expertise & Innovation:** + Provide technical leadership and expertise in areas such as stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, water resources planning, flood risk management, and coastal engineering. + Champion innovative and sustainable water solutions, incorporating Arup's global expertise and cutting-edge technologies (e.g., digital twinning, AI, IoT). + **Client Relationships & Business Development:** + Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including government agencies, utilities, and private developers. + Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the water sector, contributing to the growth of Arup's water practice. + Represent Arup at industry events, conferences, and workshops, enhancing the firm's profile and thought leadership. + **Team Leadership & Development:** + Mentor and develop junior engineers and other team members, fostering their professional growth and career advancement. + Create a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and knowledge sharing and promote diversity and inclusivity in the team + **Research & Development:** + Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in the water sector, including new technologies, regulations, and best practices. + Contribute to the development of Arup's technical knowledge base through research, publications, and presentations. + **Sustainability & Resilience:** + Integrate sustainability and resilience principles into all water projects, considering the environmental, social, and economic impacts. + Advocate for green infrastructure, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies. **Is this role right for you?** + Atleast 12 years relevant experience, including recent working experience in the water industry + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water resource engineering or similar, Masters preferred + PE license is highly valued + Strong understanding of stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, water resources planning, flood risk management, and coastal engineering, and other relevant water engineering principles. + Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., hydraulic modeling software, GIS, CAD) + Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and within budget. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships. + Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. + Understanding of market trends and competitive landscape and ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the water sector. + Ability to lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers and other team members. + Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment. + Passion for innovative and sustainable water solutions and knowledge of sustainability principles and best practices in water management. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address complex challenges. · Experience with international projects is desirable, as is knowledge of digital technologies such as BIM, digital twinning, AI, IoT, and other emerging technologies in the water sector. Options for alternative schedules and the ability to work outside of the office for a portion of your workweek are available** **Hiring Range -** **The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $140,900 to $180,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary.
