Water Maintenance Assistant Coordinator
The City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Water Maintenance Assistant Coordinator in the Division of Water. This position is for assisting in planning, organizing, and coordinating the installation, protection, operation, and/or maintenance of water distribution lines, valves, and hydrants; performs related duties as required.
Salary $45.06 - $67.60.
To qualify you must have a high school degree or GED and five (5) years of experience supervising a group of employees engaged in the installation, protection, operation, and/or maintenance of a public or critical infrastructure. You must possess a valid State of Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Class II (or higher) Water Distribution or Supply Operator’s certification within twenty-four (24) months of the date of hire. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Under direction, is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and coordinating the installation, protection, operation, and/or maintenance of water distribution lines, valves, and hydrants; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
Supervises subordinate supervisors assigned to water line, valve, and hydrant construction and maintenance duties and administrative staff, to include conducting performance evaluations, approving/disapproving leave requests, and/or initiating disciplinary actions;
Reviews work schedules to make certain desired priorities are being observed;
Oversees water line, valve, and hydrant work contracted from outside of the City, for conformance to plans, specifications, and oral instructions;
Interprets specifications, plans, and job orders; consults with engineers for clarification; distributes information to assigned staff for crew assignments;
Investigates complaints received from the public relative to actions of work crews in the field;
Assists in projecting equipment and budgetary requirements;
Attends training seminars on new safety procedures and regulations;
Monitors and reviews records (e.g., work orders, work requests, inspection logs, preventative maintenance schedules, etc.) utilizing a computerized maintenance management system for completeness;
Develops and modifies new and existing preventative maintenance procedures and benchmark work orders;
Prepares reports as required;
Identifies methods to improve production, equipment utilization, and working conditions;
Assists in investigating accidents and incidents to assess damage and determine liability;
Assists in the review of bids, encumbrances, and requisitions for materials and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of the twelfth school grade and five (5) years of experience supervising employees engaged in the installation, protection, operation, and/or maintenance of a public or critical infrastructure. Substitution(s): A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) will be accepted in lieu of the twelfth school grade requirement.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Possession of a valid State of Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Class II (or higher) Water Distribution or Supply Operator’s certification within twenty-four (24) months of the date of hire.
