Titles: Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic Duration: Contract Location: St Louis MO Job Timings: Usual business hours Also available to work some weekends/extra hours. Position summary: Inspects, repairs, and maintains water plant and distribution equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, and compressors. Also performs fabrication and installation of piping and structural steel, and maintains overhead cranes, regulators, and boats as needed. Key Responsibilities: + Inspects, repairs and maintains water plant and distribution equipment and components such as pumps, motors, valves, intake screens, sluice gates, compressors, feed lines and others. + Repairs and maintains overhead cranes and boats. + Designs, fabricates and installs piping and structural steel. + Maintains regulators. + May occasionally use overhead cranes, rigging equipment, lifting equipment, and motor boats. + Utilizes Water Department equipment as needed. + Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: + Strongly desirable to be a journeyman millwright (journeyman pipefitters will be considered) who have completed an apprenticeship program registered by the Department of Labor or equivalent. + Incumbents in this position are responsible for repairing and maintaining water processing and distribution equipment. + Some experience in repairing and maintaining a variety of heavy mechanical equipment that includes welding and pipe work; OR, successful completion of a welding, pipefitting, or millwright apprenticeship program; OR, some experience as a welder, pipefitter, or millwright. License: + Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license.
