This position starts @ $27.50/hr. DUTIES: Collect samples throughout the water reclamation plant. Perform the following analyses: pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Nitrite, Nitrate, ortho-Phosphorus, Total Phosphorus, Ammonia, Alkalinity, Volatile Acids, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Total Volatile Solids, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Chlorine, Chloride, Specific Conductivity, Settleable Solids, Total Coliform, E. coli, Oil & Grease, & other laboratory tests as needed as per UPDES discharge permit. Calibrate laboratory equipment as needed. Perform benchtop tests for evaluating effectiveness of chemicals used in Water Reclamation. Prepare and ship samples to other laboratories for additional/official analyses. Be familiar with the UPDES permit as it pertains to the laboratory and Water Reclamation. Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment. Enter data into the computer from laboratory reports and operator reports. Prepare DMR monthly report. Fill in as needed for operation of water reclamation facility. Maintain laboratory in a clean and organized manner as required. Maintain laboratory SOPs. Prepare chemicals and dilutions as needed. Complete other duties assigned by Supervisor. SKILLS: Ability to follow written and oral instructions with strong work ethic and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good knowledge of general laboratory practices. Experience in performing the above-listed tests is preferred. Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and procedures. Good background in basic math Good computer skills and working knowledge of MS Excel Ability to be flexible with scheduling. Ability to get along with others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability work standing for 8+ hours. EDUCATION: Utah Level 4 Wastewater Treatment Certification within 1 year of hire. B.S. Degree in chemistry, environmental science, or other similar discipline is preferred
