DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is seeking a Water Resources Engineer who will assist Project Managers with tasks including data review, site review, data analysis, civil engineering planning and design. The Water Resources Engineer will prepare hydrological & hydraulic calculations and modeling, and assist with the preparation of technical reports, technical exhibits, and design drawings. This role will expose the engineer to a wide range of interesting applications under the supervision of experts and industry leaders in Water Resource Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and review design calculations for storm sewer, grading, and other stormwater drainage infrastructure Prepare and review drainage studies including existing and proposed drainage plans, hydraulic reports, and technical memoranda Prepare engineering plans and specifications for drainage facilities including storm sewers, culverts, detention ponds, erosion control, and water quality facilities Develop and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models Develop models to assess pipe hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, scour, and floodplain impacts Work with other departments, clients, vendors, project managers, and project engineers to support production of project deliverables Prepare documentation required by regulatory agencies to obtain permits Assist with development of cost and fee estimates Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (cost estimators, GIS, designers, and other technical staff in and outside Michael Baker). Coordination with internal and external partners in organizational leadership initiativesPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related Engineering degree Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) is required 0-3 years of experience in related water resources design Must demonstrate excellent speaking, oral and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Bentley OpenRoads is preferred. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus Experience with HydroCAD and HEC-RAS modeling are a plus Project experience with roadway drainage design in the state of Minnesota is a plusCOMPENSATION
The compensation range for this position is $68,000 - $78,000 annually. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
