Your Opportunity

Our Sacramento, California, office is seeking water resources professionals to join our interdisciplinary team of engineers, planners, public affairs professionals, and scientists committed to delivering sound and strategic consulting services to local, regional, state, and federal clients. Projects typically involve multiple interested parties and address a combination of objectives related to ecosystem restoration, flood risk management, navigation improvement, water supply reliability, or water quality management. The position is for driven and passionate professionals who enjoy collaborating across diverse teams to help shape the future of water resources management and resilience in California. 

Your Key Responsibilities

Through teamwork and collaboration, you will support all aspects of water resources consulting.

Deliver high quality water resources consulting services.

Apply your knowledge of and experience in water resources planning and management to participate in and/or lead interdisciplinary teams conducting water resources projects throughout California and the western U.S.
Conduct and/or manage technical evaluations supporting the planning and design of water resources projects. This may include managing and/or supporting hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations, economic analyses, environmental reviews, and/or community engagement efforts.
Coordinate with project managers, project engineers and scientists, clients, communities, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors.

Contribute to the development of our team of high-performing water resources professionals.

Supervise and mentor staff to support their personal career growth.

Support marketing and business development efforts to grow Stantec’s water resources planning and management services.

Engage our clients in meaningful discussions about their most critical issues and translate those discussions into opportunities to deliver solutions.
Work with our marketing and business development team to support the pursuit and capture of projects.
Actively participate in regional and national industry groups. Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrated experience in decision making, including making sound defensible business decisions; and identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving complex problems.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to convey complex issues to a variety of audiences. 
Experience with and understanding of California water policies, programs, regulations, and guidelines.
Familiarity with use of numerical analysis tools and/or interpretation of outputs to support water resources evaluations.
Understanding of state and federal planning processes and requirements, decision-making frameworks, and/or NEPA/CEQA or other regulatory compliance processes.
Professional certification/registration (PE, PG, PH, etc.) in appropriate area of expertise preferred, but not required.
Geographically based in the greater Sacramento region or willingness to relocate.
Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in water resources engineering, civil/environmental engineering, hydrology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
5 – 15 years of increasing responsibility in the execution of complex water resources planning and management projects.

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC) Min Pay Range: CA Other Areas $112,300 Max Pay Range: CA Other Areas $168,500 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
