Water Technician
  Job Overview To ensure the delivery of compliant water and environmental service management to the GSK R&D contract in accordance with the contract deliverables and KPIs, where environmental refers to drainage systems and water management To be responsible for line management duties of Water Team You will be expected to liaise with the supply chain who may manage – maintain assets they have been contracted to do so

Main Duties

Multi-purpose role to maintain and upkeep environmental water systems and equipment in compliance and adherence to procedure, method statements or work instructions Surveying and assessment of all building water services in order to ensure compliance with HSC L8 ACOP and HSG 274 Parts 1, 2 & 3 guidance and Water Fittings Regulations Fault find and assessment of water treatment equipment including softeners, dosing pumps etc Cleaning and disinfection of high-risk systems including cooling towers, water tanks etc when required. Operation and water testing of cooling systems including Cooling Towers, closed systems and water treatment plant Maintain a good comprehension of relevant Standards and Regulations Manage remedial works of environmental water systems components including but not limited to, drainage systems, interceptors, pen stocks and sump pumps Liaise with contractors regarding water and environmental system issues and management Update the site water and environmental logbooks on a day to day basis Carry out water duties in accordance with current standards including but not limited to, legionella response, floods and drainage issues. Support contracted work e.g. clean sumps, interceptors etc is carried out in accordance with agreed method statement or work instruction and permits to work (PTW), when required Take water samples IAW BS 7592 Sampling and only pass them to accredited laboratory organisation for testing Reconcile faults and/or defects ensuring that an audit trail is in place to follow actions  To keep up to date with GSK my learning training To maintain proficiency on all relevant IT packages and systems To keep up to date with relevant IT systems and proactively utilise Office 365  To establish a consistently positive working relationship with your client and end users To ensure an effective feedback mechanism is in place to allow clients feedback to be monitored and actions logged and closed out To ensure all applicable processes are designed to ensure operational excellence; with waste reduced and value add increased Ensure an effective communications plan is in place and that stakeholder engagement is proactively managed To satisfy all contract deliverables What we are looking for

Experience:

Experience of water related equipment and the risks associated with cooling towers, domestic potable system and spray producing systems Practical with good engineering knowledge in the field of expertise including water softeners, water treatment plants and plumbed systems A knowledge of computer programmes is essential. (MS Office) Have an understanding or experience of Cooling tower operation and maintenance

 

Personal Competencies: 

Confined space CP – desirable , not essential City and Guilds Certification in understanding legionella to include cooling towers (legionnaires' disease) - achieved or working towards. Hold or be working towards Certificate in Water Fittings Regulations and in particular backflow (SPEC Course) Highly motivated and capable of working under own supervision. An ability to make decisions quickly and carryout manual physical activities Capable of working both alone and as part of a dynamic team. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and on paper, able to present argument and arrive at evidence-based decision making IT Literate including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Visio. Experience of Smartsheets will be an advantage
