WAX ASSEMBLER

 Under general supervision, clean, gate, and attach wax patterns to frames. Instructions are provided for following established production, housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment.

 Shift hours:

This shift will work 2:00pm to 10:30pm

 Objective: Use various hand, heated, and electric tools, and use individual wax patterns to assemble complete wax pattern trees acceptable to the shelling department conforming to visual and dimensional specifications on technique cards.  Ensure that documentation, tooling and parts are correctly matched to paperwork. 

 

            Essential Job Functions:

Following department priorities and instructions on individual paperwork, collect specific part number and amount of wax patterns.If individual patterns have a soluble core, the parts must go through the dissolving bath and cleaned as instructed on the paperwork.Using various tools, assemble individual wax patterns into fully assembled wax trees for inspection and processing to the shelling department.Completed trees, if indicated by accompanying paperwork, are water weighed and results documented on paperwork.Repair parts, break bubbles, fuse cracked areas with hot iron, and reinforce areas with hot wax and/or ceramic sticks and smooth areas with a knife or other hot tool.Use such measuring devices as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.Rebuild parts to level required by department instruction and customer requirements as shown on accompanying paperwork.Final inspection takes place before the shelling department takes responsibility for the wax pattern tree.Maintain accurate records of work performed.Meet all production and quality standards. Follow set OPC’s and QCP’s.Have good eye hand coordination.Perform all work deemed necessary to achieve Plant goals.Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.Must be able to interpret work instructions form technique cards.Adhere to plant and department safety rules.

 

Essential Equipment, Vehicles, Tools and/or Machinery used:

Various hand tools (Measuring devices, Pliers, Wrench, Wax surfacing hand tools, Scrapers and Hot Knives, Water Torches, Measuring devices, Clippers, Scissors, )May use a variety of power equipment (Electric Wax Saw, Electric Drill Press, etc)May operate a wax extruding machine, fill and knock-out wax billets and alloy reclaimed wax. May use hand tools of various types.Lifting devices (Lift tables, Cranes, Lift trucks, etc.)

 Qualifications:

Experience and/or training are included in considerations.Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follow and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.Able to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Pay will vary depending on experience and previous work history ($18/hr. to $19.75/hr.)
