Web Developer

The Web Developer is part of the Library Technology and Assessment Services team at Vanderbilt University and is key to assuring that new and current web applications adhere to current web guidelines. Reporting directly to the Director of Library Technology and Assessment Services, this position will work with other groups, both internal and external, to assure that library collections are available through the various web applications.

Key Functions and Expected Performance:
+ Maintain and develop interfaces for the library’s digital collections and ensure they maintain a consistent look and feel.
+ Assure W3C WCAG compliance of library websites.
+ Maintain and develop the library’s public website, web applications, and other core web services
+ Works with others in LTAS to assure the security of the library web environment.
+ Work with others in LTAS to help set priorities and timetables for digital projects.
+ Work to assure that analytics are collected on all library systems through Matomo, Google Analytics, or other systems.
+ Participate on committees, project teams, and other groups to complete projects
Supervisory Relationships:
The position reports administratively and functionally to the Director for Library Technology and Assessment Services (LTAS)
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required
A MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution is preferred or a degree in computer science or relevant experience
One year of relevant working experience required
Experience and Skills:
Demonstrable experience with developing applications for a web environment
Experience with creating and maintaining CSS.
Experience with various programming languages including ruby, php, perl, python, etc.
Experience working with cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Ability to work collaboratively is necessary.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.
