UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty. **The Graduate School has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Web Strategist to join their team.** **POSITION PURPOSE** The web strategist manages the planning, strategic development and operations of the Graduate School’s web presence while ensuring accurate, timely and compelling web pages and data-driven enhancements that benefit websites in the school’s WordPress multisite structure. Reporting to the Graduate School’s Director of Marketing and Communication, the web strategist reflects brand standards and follows best practices in usability and accessibility while meeting the needs of its users, including internal and external audiences. The web strategist trains, collaborates and consults with faculty and staff from Graduate School units. **POSITION COMPLEXITIES:** This position is essential to the effective communication of the Graduate School’s mission of facilitating and ensuring the quality of graduate education at the UW. Serving over 17,000 graduate students and supporting 300 graduate programs across our three campuses, the Graduate School delivers inclusive programming, community events, professional and intellectual development resources and funding opportunities. The web strategist ensures that the Graduate School’s web presence is strategic, informative, and on-brand for current and prospective students, graduate programs, and faculty and staff across all three campuses. **POSITION IMPACT:** The Graduate School provides students with a fundamental framework and support system, giving them the space and agency to focus on their education. In turn, their research drives the pace of innovation across Washington State and beyond. In 2023, the UW’s economic impact on the State of Washington was $21 billion, generated in large part because of graduate students and their work. This position supports the informational and communications infrastructure of the Graduate School. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Website strategy and implementation • Ensure Graduate School websites meet strategic goals; develop annual and strategic plans for websites in the short and long term. Create shared understanding of priorities and projects and promote the contributions and success of the web team. • Create Graduate School-wide standards for websites that ensure federal accessibility guidelines, usability, search engine optimization, reflect University of Washington and Graduate School branding and messaging and meet strategic digital engagement goals. • Plan and prioritize web development needs. • Oversee the workflow of website projects. Content management, user experience and unit support • Lead periodic website audits for accuracy, completeness and relevance. • Lead periodic website redevelopment projects. • Develop, improve and update systems and processes that enable the team to collaborate efficiently and contribute to the communications team’s annual plan and other large and small-scale projects. • Create wireframes and mock-ups for web projects, including adding new features, plug-ins, changing existing web products, and developing high-profile web pages and microsites. • Create, manage and maintain web pages in response to support requests and independently, as needed, to ensure accurate, timely and compelling websites. • Work with key stakeholders and communications team staff to develop best practices, processes and guidelines that ensure content is consistent, accurate, readable and accessible. Web analytics, insights and digital engagement • Evaluate web analytics, set benchmarks, maintain dashboards and make data-driven recommendations. • Share data insights with leadership to drive improvements and strategy. Technical support and training • Support units on website edits as needed. • Proofread and edit content for style and accuracy. • Maintain WordPress manuals, train users and create materials and documentation to support content managers and collaborators. • Assist Graduate School staff on web issues, including the use of themes and web components. Other duties **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, technical communication or related field and four years of related professional experience to include: _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS** • Experience developing website plans that incorporate strategic planning and stakeholder goals and benchmarks, best practices, web analytics and user-driven feedback. • Strong understanding and proven practice of user experience standards. Previous experience managing and developing design systems. • Experience working and communicating across units. • Demonstrated technical skills, including proficiency in HTML, CSS and WordPress or other content management systems. • Knowledge of web standards, including W3C compliance and ADA Title II accessibility guidelines. • A service-oriented mindset with interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Demonstrated knowledge of website development lifecycle. • Demonstrated ability to deliver creatively designed web pages and effectively communicate through design elements. **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT** This position is eligible for a hybrid-work schedule with two days in the office (Seattle campus) and three days of telework. Work beyond 40 hours per week may be required occasionally to meet critical deadlines.
