Position Overview
Bradley University is seeking a talented and motivated Website Support Coordinator with experience in WordPress to join our Marketing and Communications team. This entry-level position will focus on supporting the University’s web presence by designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress-based websites and related digital projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for web technologies, a keen eye for design, and a drive to create functional, visually appealing, and user-friendly websites.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of WordPress websites, ensuring they align with Bradley University’s brand standards.Collaborate with the Web Development Manager and other team members to enhance website functionality, design, and user experience.Build, modify, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins.Perform routine website updates, including content changes, plugin updates, and security patches.Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, including broken links, formatting errors, and compatibility issues.Optimize websites for performance, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness.Conduct quality assurance (QA) testing to ensure websites function properly across all devices and browsers.Collaborate with marketing, content, and design teams to develop web-based solutions that support university campaigns and initiatives.Maintain and improve search engine optimization (SEO) strategies for web content.Stay current on WordPress developments, emerging web technologies, and industry best practices.Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Proven experience developing and managing WordPress websites, including themes and plugins.Proficiency in web technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP.Familiarity with responsive design principles and frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap).Basic understanding of SEO and web analytics tools such as Google Analytics.Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience with graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.Knowledge of website accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).Familiarity with version control systems like Git.Understanding of MySQL and database management.Higher education or nonprofit experience is a plus.Key Competencies
