Anyone with an allergy to penicillin will not be considered for the role due to the product being made at site.

We have an opening to support our Pharmaceutical client within the Irvine area, offering Laboratory support working within an integrated environment and with a well established team.

The opportunity would be fantastic for an undergraduate looking to gain vital experience in a laboratory environment whilst studying for their qualifications or an individual where working weekends would fit their lifestyle and has an appreciation of working in a regulated environment.

The Weekend Lab Assistant role is designed to provide essential support for laboratory functions at Irvine, including the preparation of mobile phase, eluent, and reagents, removal of laboratory waste, sample collection, glassware cleaning, and equipment performance qualification checks. Due to the nature of the products made on site, individuals with a penicillin allergy will not be considered for the role. The key responsibilities include ensuring tasks are completed according to schedule to avoid any impact on production, adhering to the ALCOA+ principles (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, and accurate), maintaining 100% completion in MyLearning and Mitie Learning hub, and ensuring daily preparation of laboratory solutions and samples. Additionally, the role involves ensuring that scheduled equipment calibration and functionality testing are performed as planned and offering flexibility to cover any activities supporting plant production. The ideal candidate should be educated at A level/Higher or have demonstrable experience in a GxP environment, particularly in chemistry. They must exhibit attention to detail, the ability to work methodically, effective communication skills to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and the confidence to challenge behaviors and drive continuous improvement. The role requires the ability to work under pressure, independently, and the mobility to move between various laboratories, with some physical lifting involved.
