The Weekend Maintenance Supervisor facilitates maintenance activities by leading a team of electricians and mechanics and is accountable for managing the overall maintenance of the plant throughout the weekend.
This position is to help support unplanned delay during off-shift hours and increase uptime. Ensures all safety standards are met, prepares work schedules for electricians and mechanics, plans scheduled maintenance, supervises unscheduled repair activities to ensure smooth plant operations, and leads all aspects of the maintenance department.
This position reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent. Coordinates stillyard maintenance repairs with the stillyard supervisor and maintenance planner.
Duties/Responsibilities
Provides leadership and technical advice to ensure quality work is produced from a team of skilled maintenance technicians. Will provide technical guidance regarding the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant electrical and mechanical systems. Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing assigned installation, maintenance, and repair activities, coordinating with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees. Performs root cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance. Understands, follows, and ensures electricians are trained on Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) and Arc Flash requirements.
Responsible to train technicians and coordinate with other maintenance supervisors to schedule workers in the maintenance department and will drive the team to make improvements in the reliability of plant equipment. Must prioritize work orders and work schedules to ensure the best utilization of man-hours and supplies. Troubleshoot and repair complex PLC and motor drive problems by quickly analyzing data and determining the best solution. Ensure Preventive Maintenance workorders (PM) are accomplished in a timely manner and are to a high standard of quality. Lead 5S activities in the department to improve efficiency, functionality, cleanliness, and safety. Write purchase requisitions for supplies and parts needed to maintain the production line and stillyard equipment. Assist storeroom supervisor to ensure adequate supply of needed spare parts are on-hand. Ability to proficiently operate powered hand tools and clear or reset alarms on the process HMI’s. Have the ability to operate powered equipment such as forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, and skid steers. Track and approve employee work-hour tracking using electronic clocking program (Kronos). Coordinate with Human Resources to coach/discipline employees when required and conduct performance appraisals for maintenance department employees to document past performance and set upcoming goals. Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental, and Property/Equipment Damage. Conduct weekly SMAT Audits. Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling programs. Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions. Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position JSA and SOPs.
