Clover Leaf is seeking an experienced Weld Engineer to provide technical expertise and support to the Projects Engineering group, as well as existing facilities operations, construction, and maintenance activities. This role is responsible for ensuring welding compliance across various project phases, from scope definition to detailed designs, and requires in-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards.
Job Description:The Weld Engineer will provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including participating in designs, writing welding requirements for procurement, and ensuring compliance with applicable welding, brazing, and bonding procedures. This position requires problem-solving capabilities for designing and maintaining plant facilities and processes, as well as providing essential training to site personnel on welding requirements, criteria, and compliance.
Additionally, the Weld Engineer reviews design output documents for technical accuracy and compliance with national welding codes and company procedures, evaluates bid proposals for welding technical compliance, and conducts vendor reviews to ensure adherence to contractual welding requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Provide technical support for Projects Engineering, construction, and maintenance activities across various project phases. Write welding requirements for procurement documents and develop welding, brazing, and bonding procedures in compliance with code requirements. Review design output documents for welding data and ensure adherence to national codes and company procedures. Evaluate bid proposals and vendor submittals for compliance with welding specifications and conduct vendor surveillances. Conduct field activities to support on-site organizations and subcontractors performing welding, brazing, and bonding activities. Maintain oversight of Rod Rooms, review on-site work packages involving welding, and establish hold points for weld inspections. Generate Weld Inspection Records, create weld maps, and perform random oversight of on-site welding activities. Review completed Welding Inspection Records for accuracy and completeness before final closeout. Process non-conformances and release repair operation instructions for welding activities. Required Skills/Experience: Extensive technical knowledge of welding codes, including: AWS D1.1 ASME B31 ASME Section IX Associated quality programs such as ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 830.120. Expertise in welding processes, including: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). Experience with autogenous weld processes for stainless steel tubes in high vacuum applications. Knowledge of manual and automatic GTAW welding for high vacuum stainless steel applications. Education/Qualifications: ABET Accredited BS degree in Engineering. Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in welding engineering.
