Basic Job Functions:Seeking an effective trainer, mentor, process-minded, effective communicator to join our team.
The Weld Tech/Instructor responsibilities are included, but not limited to:
Provide classroom and shop floor training to new and current fitter(s) and welder(s). Administer weld qualification test in accordance with AWS D1.1 Support production on welding related issues. Responsible to maintain and update weld certification tracker and ensure all fitters and welders are up to date. Perform welding equipment and flux oven calibration using amperage/voltage, wire feed speed and gas flow meter as required. Review welding requirements to keep NTS compliant to customer’s specifications. Implement and perform monthly plant audit program for all welding processes. Responsible to maintain continuity log/reports. Help reduce costs through continuous improvement activities that improve safety, quality, and productivity. Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency. Assist maintenance in troubleshoot welding equipment issues.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: 2-year degree from an accredited technical college or equivalent experience in welding Experience with Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Metal Cored Arc Welding (MCAW) and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) processes AWS Certified welding inspector (CWI) and Certified Welding Educator (CWE) or ability to obtain those certifications upon employment or ability to obtain those certifications upon employment. Must be able to pass 2G Weld Testing Competent and knowledgeable on how to set up welding and cutting equipment including auto welder. Working knowledge of metal properties, blueprint/shop drawing interpretation, and fabrication practices. Ability to effectively assess and provide constructive feedback to students. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: Proficient performing AWS D1.1 welder qualification tests and records. Previous teaching experience in welding disciplines. AWS Certified welding Inspector (CWI) and Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
