Title: Welder
Location: Charleston, TN
Salary: $34.83/hour starting rate
Schedule: 4 10-hour shifts
Focus: The Welder position inspects, repairs, installs, adjusts and maintains equipment as related to the job of pipe welder; receives instructions on scheduled or emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be performed.
Welder Essential Job Functions:
Locates and diagnoses trouble and determines material and replacement needs and most expedient method of making repairs; Notifies supervision of mechanical trouble, impending delays to units and assistance or material needs for repairs; Notifies responsible parties when trouble is not mechanical. Operates both electric-welding and acetylene-welding apparatus on carbon steel and various alloys to x-ray standards. Uses CMMS in daily work activities.
Repairs, replaces, installs, dismantles, assembles and adjusts various equipment. Repairs and installs utility and process piping, valves and fittings and works with others on operating units.
Uses power tools, hand tools, heating and burning equipment, welding equipment, and threading equipment in making repairs, fabrications, assemblies and installations. Performs burning and welding operations as required commensurate with training.
Composes required maintenance reports. Reads prints to fabricate and repair pipe and structures. Answers service calls.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. Operates mobile equipment such as forklifts, boom trucks and cranes in repair or replacement of mechanical equipment. Performs rigging as necessary.
Uses tools, materials and equipment such as drill press, power saw, heating and burning equipment, welding equipment, portable power tools and hand tools, measuring devices, pipe cutting, threading equipment; lubricating equipment; hydraulic jacks; safety devices; testing equipment; scaffolds; plant mechanical equipment; cranes; mobile equipment; spare parts; lubricants and pipe. Wears specialized PPE such as full-face respiratory protection and chemical protection clothing as required.
Job activities may involve working near extremely hot temperatures, high voltage, heavy equipment, various gases, hazardous chemicals, in high locations (up to 100 feet), congested areas and lifting up to 50 pounds. Improper actions or mistakes could result in accidents lethal to self and others. Burns and explosions are a potential hazard.
Welder Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of five years pipe welding work experience (industrial setting preferred); journey level Welder designation preferred

Must be able to work overtime and call-ins as needed
Able to demonstrate basic computer skills, math and problem-solving; mechanical, numerical and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quickly
Able to pass a functional physical testing and able to use standard safety equipment
Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights
Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces
Pass a physical, drug screen and background check if job offer is received and accepted
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
