Job Description

You will be welding large parts and frames of railroad equipment for repair, removal, or refinishing using MIG, GMAW, and Carbon Arc welding techniques. The role involves working with 3/8” structural welds on carbon steel material in both horizontal and vertical positions. Some torch cutting, plasma cutting, and grinding are also required.

ResponsibilitiesWeld large parts and frames of railroad equipment for various purposes.Perform MIG welding on 3/8” structural welds using carbon steel material.Utilize GMAW and Carbon Arc welding techniques.Conduct horizontal and vertical up/down welds.Execute torch cutting, plasma cutting, and grinding tasks.Read and interpret blueprints for welding tasks (training available if needed).Essential SkillsProficiency in MIG welding.Experience with welding carbon steel material.Ability to perform horizontal and vertical welds.Knowledge of GMAW and Carbon Arc welding techniques.Basic skills in torch cutting and plasma cutting.Grinding experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to read blueprints (training available).Experience in fabrication.Familiarity with dual shield/fluxcore welding.Coachable and eager to learn.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is team-oriented and friendly. The hours are 6am-4:30pm from Monday to Thursday, 6am-2:30pm on Fridays, and two Saturdays a month (5am-11am or 7am-1pm depending on lead coverage). The pay is $18-25/hr, possibly more depending on experience. Additional pay is available for those with managerial, lead, or supervisory experience who can take on more responsibility in the weld department.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arcola, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
