Welder And Fabricator
**Job Title: Welder and Fabricator** **Job Description** Candidates will be welding in either the structural department, tank department, or miscellaneous shop. Each department has a slightly different skillset that is unique to the finished product. Communication amongst other departments will be important to ensure product is being produced efficiently and accurately. Welders Will Be Responsible For: - Setting up weld machines and adjusting the temperature based on the product - Running beads on structural steel or pressurized tanks - Operating overhead crane as needed - Performing basic weld inspections before moving forward with the next step of the process - Cleaning up welds as needed with a grinder - Welds can be up to 1" thick steel - Assist with pressure testing tanks with water and air up to 120 PSI Fabrication (Fitter): The Fabrication position requires more skill than a welder. Fabricators are responsible for: - Reading and interpreting company blueprints to layout pieces - Fitting up beams and tacking together pieces on connection points (Welders will run the beads to finish the parts) - Operating machinery to punch holes in pieces as needed - Reading angles and measurements **Hard Skills** + Welding on structural steel + Reading blueprints + Laying out product + Tacking pieces together + Beading up parts + Cleaning up welds with a grinder + Operating overhead crane + Pressure testing tanks **Soft Skills** + Effective communication + Team collaboration + Attention to detail **Work Environment** The production floor is heated during the winters and has industrial doors open on multiple ends of the building during the summer to allow a breeze to circulate through. The shop is upkept well and is a very clean work environment for being a structural metal shop.
