Job Overview The incumbent welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, mobile homes, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Fabricates, maintains and repairs metal parts, structures, and equipment. Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding. Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High school graduate or equivalent. Must be skilled in stainless, aluminum, steel and cast iron. Must be proficient in ARC welding, brazing, soldering, TIG welding, MIG welding, spot welding, and in oxy acetone welding. Must be familiar with heat treating, hard surfacing and wire rope termination processes. Must be proficient in the use of shop metal tools. Must be experienced in the use of metal processing pneumatic hand tools. Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.  Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.  Valid Alabama state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.   Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.   U.S. Citizenship.   Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).     Reasonable Accommodation: CGS will provide reasonable accommodations, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
