Responsibilities

The Welder/Fitter is responsible for performing job activities required to support production successes including fitting/adjusting parts, tacking, MIG welding steel, and visually inspecting parts to ensure specifications and standards are met for each project.

 

Job Responsibilities

Lays out, positions, secures parts, and fabricates material according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.Tack-welds or welds components and projects.Prepares and finishes workpiece using portable grinder or scraper.Welds components in all positions.Set up welding or other required equipment and follow Health and Safety protocols and procedures.Inspect parts to ensure standards and specifications are met.Perform precision layout tasks and precisely fit together their structural parts and components.Read/work to engineered drawings and welding symbols.Perform shop mathematical calculations when required.Follow all plant safety guidelines, practices, and procedures.Maintain and clean and safe work area.Properly use all personal protective equipment.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent.5 years experience as a welder/fitter or similar role.Intermediate experience and knowledge of blueprint reading.Intermediate ability using welding tools.Knowledge of machine operation, cutting, sawing, drilling, and grinding parts is preferred.Experience with forklifts and overhead crane preferred.Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others.Ability to read and follow blueprints with a high level of attention to detail.Ability to repetitively lift 25-50 lbs.
