Your Physical Work Environment Will Require… Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation. Possible exposure to chemical odors and temperature extremes. Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials as well as repetitive hand movements during welding. Your Professional Experience Should Be… Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols. Previous experience performing GMAW, GTAW, and Sub-arc welding. Experience with air-arc gouging and operation of plasma cutting machines. Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers. Chart’s welders play a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products. Chart is currently seeking candidates in our Richburg location, interested in the position of welder on the day shift. Candidates must be able to perform complex and critical welding operations and the position requires a full range of experience and training. Various types of metals are used during the production process and the following types of welding are performed: GMAW, GTAW, Sub-arc welding, Plasma-arc cutting and Air-arc gouging.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… Perform welding and other related manufacturing activities with minimal instruction and supervision Layout, assemble and weld according to drawings, work instructions, and weld procedures. Ability to judge the type and gauge of steel to be welded, and make proper head adjustments as required by welding procedures. Position welded metal parts on fixtures; attached jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding. Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair. Train and instruct other welders. Use various handling devices in conjunction with welding tasks. Accurately maintain required documentation. Utilize visual examination. Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, participate in safety program and department meetings. Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors. Your Education Should Be… Technical welding diploma or equivalent work experience.
