Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in Memphis, TN in the Operations Division, Physical Support Branch, Plant Section, Metals Unit. You will serve as a leader of welders and metal worker welders in accomplishing trades and labor work. Responsibilities Monitors and reports on status of team members. Investigates causes of critical or major defects and assures corrective action is taken. Train and instruct employees on proper weld processes, procedures and techniques Maintains inspection program for area of responsibility and administrative reference materials. Performs visual, dye penetrant, mag particle, and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspection of welds on various weldments ranging from pipe to hull plating. Prepares reports and records relative to inspection results along with recommendations. Inspects fabricated items for compliance with drawings and procedures. Inspects all types of welding processes on fabricated items and assemblies for proper build up and application of materials. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise as a(n) WELDER INSPECTOR LEADER (MVO/FLO). Ability to perform variety of fabrication, weldments, and welding processes. I can perform welding and fabrication duties and operate motor vehicles, forklifts, and overhead gantry cranes. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: The work involves standing, walking, stooping, climbing and crawling. Work may be performed in an awkward or cramped positions. Incumbent frequently handles, lifts, or carries parts or equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift and carry items weighing more. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to injury from lifting, operating machines and using miscellaneous tools. Is exposed to abnormal noise; inclement weather; burns from electric arc, gas torches and molten metal; changing temperatures; and fumes. Danger to the eyes is present from metal chips, electric arc, rust and dust. Is also subject to danger of explosive gases.
