Overview Position Summary: Responsible for using various welding techniques for repairing damaged equipment and the fabrication of equipment related components. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures Assist Mechanics with equipment repairs Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding Set up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment Assemble parts by bolting and riveting Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools Perform code (ASME, AWS or API) compliant welds using GMAW, SMAW, CTAW and FCAW processes Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education and Work Experience Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred Experience with lathe, CNC Plasma and milling machinery a PLUS. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward MasTec Renewables Injury principles Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked, work within precise limits or standards of accuracy, look at flat drawings, pictures and blueprints and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width and depth, see detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings Ability to check finished work to make sure it falls within tolerances Ability to measure and cut materials to specifications Ability to weld materials using the correct materials to join the metals together Strong attention to detail **Must be local to the Clinton Indana location.
