Protecting humans in a world in perpetual motion. Welder -1st shift Role Purpose : Responsible for fitting and welding of steel, aluminium and stainless-steel parts using a MIG and/or TIG process. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: + Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements, layout, and procedures. + Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements). + Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. + Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces. + Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead). + Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. + Grind or clean weld joint of work piece. + Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. + Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes. + Positions and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures. + Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material. + Tacks assemblies together. + Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter. + Cleans or de-greases parts. + Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding. + Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area. + Follow all safety rules and quality standards. + Ability to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area. + Other duties as assigned Physical Demands + Required to stand for extended periods of time. + Occasionally required to bend (sandblasting). + Adequate dexterity for using various hand tools. + Ability to install and uninstall small parts to complete parts. + Visual acuity to read directions and prints, and to inspect parts closely to ensure they meet specifications. + Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisors. + Physical strength to lift and carry 35 pounds occasionally. Education and/or Experience: + 3 years related experience and/or training. + Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or trade school preferred. + Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) is a plus.
