Welding Engineer
Job Title: Welding EngineerJob Description The Welding Engineer will be responsible for engineering tasks related to laser welding, arc welding, and metallurgy to ensure the quality and integrity of welded metal components meet company and customer standards. The role involves reviewing and preparing welding processes, creating welding process work instructions and standards/specifications, and improving cycle times and production efficiencies on processes and equipment. The Welding Engineer will assist in developing and operating welding and assembly cells, modifying computer-controlled robots, performing preventative or corrective actions and maintenance, inspecting weld joints, and conducting welding tests to ensure compliance with company standards, national code requirements, and customer specifications. Responsibilities + Support customers from the initial design phase to the production part approval process and through the end of production. + Conduct Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, and Radiographic Testing. + Ensure quality control of welding processes. + Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality. + Assist in the design, configuration, or application of robotic systems. + Set up and troubleshoot robotic systems using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, and sensors. + Develop, conduct, and coordinate welder training classes for support technicians. + Develop welding techniques and procedures for robotic welding operations. + Provide training for personnel, both technical and production staff. Essential Skills + Welding certificate OR Degree in Welding Engineering + Experience in Laser Welding or Arc Welding Processes + Quality Control experience related to welding + Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints/drawings Additional Skills & Qualifications + Metallurgy experience + 2+ years of experience in the field + Automotive experience + Robotic experience Work Environment This individual will work on a team with three other Welding Engineers and report to the lead engineer. They will be based in Plant 10, with standard hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, though there is some flexibility on start and end times.
