Welding Inspector I
+ Read and interpret basic drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols + Able to identify weld discontinuities + Basic understanding of weld acceptance criteria + Basic weld inspection tool usage: fillet gauge, V-WAC gauge, combination square, protractor, caliper, tape measure, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, temperature crayon + Ability to answer welding-related questions or know where to direct questions + Fully inspect weldments and sub-weldments + Document results of inspections, including VT reports and weld maps + Comprehend the introduction to First Article Inspection (FAIs) + Communicate welding nonconformances to Welding Supervisor, Welding Trainer, Welder Development Coordinator, Lead Weld Inspector + Maintain material certifications and inspection documentation + Label nonconforming parts + Use calibrated measuring equipment where applicable + Follow all safety procedures + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required + Good verbal and written communication skills is required Education: + GED/High School Diploma/Technical Degree Experience: + 1-3 Years welding experience and/or + 1-3 Years welding inspection experience Specialized Experience: + ASNT VT Level II – preferred + Acquire certification within 60 days of hire Physical Demands: The physical demands described below are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
