WELL ENGINEERING LEAD

The Project Lead holds overall technical and financial accountability in all project deliverables and is responsible for providing direction and guidance to a diverse team through the design, planning and application of well engineering standards in well construction, intervention, and decommissioning. The Project Lead is responsible for leading the initial interface experience with the customer, sales, and operations personnel through to project tender, award, and execution.

Responsible for all deliverables as per the Well Delivery Process (including, but not limited to Basis of Design, Well Program, Rig Work Instructions, End of Well Reports) for well intervention, well slot recovery, and well decommissioning.  Ensures all Weatherford, customer, and regulatory governance are adhered to during the planning and execution of well activity.  Lead day-to-day planning and operations in coordination with Well Site Supervisors and service providers (Weatherford and non-Weatherford) related to assigned projects.  Surveillance and monitoring of daily drilling progress to ensure operations are conducted applying the optimum technologies and operational practices, and in adherence to the Well Basis of Design, Well Program, and Rig Work Instruction.  Interpret subsurface objectives for zonal isolation into optimised well barrier design.  Review well file history to prepare well integrity summaries and perform gap analysis for missing data requirements as part of initial well passport creation during Initiate and Concept design phases, selecting the optimised methods to deliver the requirements, and preparing well cost and time estimates to support AFE preparation. Review alternative technologies and methodologies to reduce the critical path (e.g. offline operations, combined / optimized BHAs, alternate conveyance methods, etc.). Technical support to wellsite team during execution including management of change, cost and progress tracking, troubleshooting, service quality resolution, and equipment coordination support. Use risk assessment tools to qualify and quantify risks in the well design and execution, in accordance with both Weatherford and customer’s risk management framework. Analysis of operational performance and coordination with operations personnel to implement changes in procedures and equipment. Lead strategic business opportunities including but not limited to customer engagements, contractor engagements, and tender responses.  Develop and fully implement well engineering best practice, peer reviews, and technology application during the planning, execution, and closure phases for projects. Research and assess applicability of new technology to projects and support technical and/or business initiative that furthers the capabilities. Ensure all wells are budgeted, planned and designed to contractual standards, regulatory requirements, policies and full consideration of HSE & sustainability goals. Acts as focal point for project and technical related matters and is the main Weatherford liaison with the customer. Responsible for the technical competencies and capabilities of the engineering and project team. Develops training plans for the members of the team in conjunction with the Global Integrated Services & Projects Career Path.  Schedules project technical reviews at an agreed frequency with the relevant stakeholders.  Makes responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review, except those involving large sums of money or long-range objectives and takes action to expedite the assigned projects. Solves problems that impact on the business, which requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.
