West Area Manager – Northern California

The Area Manager has primary responsibility for the safe operation of each of the assigned locations. Additionally, this role is also required to provide leadership through the development of each team while encouraging personal and professional growth. The Area Manager ensures that safety programs are managed, compliance is measured and monitored, training requirements are met, and customer contract demands are met as well as strategic product supply goals within the region.

 The Area Manager provides clear direction for site maintenance activities and plant operations to minimize downtime and meet customer requirements. During periods of crisis, the Area Manager is required to react immediately to plan, organize, and execute the proper corrective actions. The Area Manager must also have the technical and operational knowledge to lead the team and to serve as a focal point for senior leadership.

 The Area Manager is responsible for maximizing asset utilization, cost minimization and performance improvement for the assigned locations. The Area Manager evaluates the use of capital funds for facilities and equipment and drives delivery of the annual capital plan for the Area. The incumbent continually interfaces with the Line Manager, Asset Managers, and Account Managers to optimize services and profits. The Area Manager is expected to develop and maintain productive working relationships with the operations/production teams for the host customer(s).

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  

The Area Manager must be able to lead, inspire, coach, and recognize the team by empowering people to do their best work by providing regular and honest feedback, while supporting employees to confidently express their viewpoints. He/She will need to provide clarity around roles and responsibilities, authority, and expectations; while moving work forward by effectively managing ambiguity, removing/eliminating obstacles and non-value-added work. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are required as interactions with the customer at the senior management levels are required. Furthermore, the Area Manager must be able to handle questions well in highly visible, confrontational situations.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

Degree in engineering, technical field, or possibly other disciplines with 10 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical plant, industrial gas plant, or an operation of equivalent complexity.Candidates must have at least 5 years of leadership experience in Operations or Plant Management.This role reports to the West Region Line Manager.

The expected pay range for this job varies based on location. In California, the expected pay range is $149,090 - $190,000 plus bonus. These are the ranges we reasonably expect to pay for this position as individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
